& Line

No nets.
One fish at a time.

Pole and line is a traditional fishing method that relies on individual fishermen using hand held poles. Pole and line fishing is highly selective, meaning that other marine animals are rarely caught, and if they do become caught can be returned to the ocean unharmed.

Sirena’s Ethical Sourcing Code

Sirena has developed a set of core values and principles by which we run our business. It includes our approach to safe and fair labour practices, and the responsible management of environmental and social issues in Sirena’s supply chain.

Our ethical code

traceable
& transparent

Traceability and transparency

Our supply of tuna is traceable. Through our stringent traceability processes we do not source fish caught on illegal fishing vessels or use processors who have unsafe, unfair or illegal labour practices. Sirena is transparent on the source of fish used across all of our product ranges.

Social & economic benefits to communities

Pole and line fishing requires more fishermen per tonne of catch than any other tuna fishing method. This means local jobs are created for local people, increasing employment opportunities and the standard of living for many households within coastal fishing communities.
